Are voice lessons worth it?

My voice isn't horrible, and i can hold a note and all that, but at the same time i feel like my voice is still nothing special. I really enjoy music, and hope to maybe sing in a band one day. Are singing lessons worth it? Would lessons change the sound of my voice, or change the way I sing? or both?
